Could anyone please suggest with whom I could insure my Harris Hawk, and approximate annual costs? I was thinking particularly of insuring against possible veterinary costs. Also any experiences that people have had with insurance companies, is it worth it?? Many thanks.
Just paid £43 for the next year to Golden Valley Insurance. 01981 240536 they will pay for all vets bills except the first £13, that means £13 per treatment untill fit, not per visit.up to £2500, and includes a non return fee, they pay 1/2 value of bird if it gets lost (for good!)
However, I have been to vets a couple of times over small things where the fee was approx £24 and because there is a no claims discount, i did not claim. I think it is well worth the money, For example, Went to pick up bird one day and he could not fly, dragging one wing. Went to vet, he felt bird had bashed bone hard and infection had started up. two weeks anti biotics and he was as right as rain, but it could have been worse and a lot more expensive.
