Well Charles, you are setting a good example. They say people in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones. I don't claim to be great on the grammar and punctuation front but somebody who makes eight mistakes in 27 words is hardly in a position to criticise others.
Personally I thought Rob was expressing himself very well even if his spelling was sh*t. Perhaps you should take a box of tissues and go and express yourself.

It's strange how you feel able able to be so vindictive to people you know so little about. I have seen a great deal of tollerance and support to messages that are obviously from people who have little idea of what they are doing and perhaps should have made more effort to educate themselves. That support is coming from people you are so quick to berate. They seem to have more humanity towards their fellow human beings than you have. They also, probably, have more sympathy towards maintaining the countryside and wildlife than you.
Where do you draw the line with this morality issue? Do we have the right to kill any other life form? Is it allright to kill flies and spiders? Is it alright to farm animals and kill them for food? Is it alright to to kill greenfly and slugs to keep our gardens pretty? Is it allright to kill city pigeons because they crap on our buildings (falconers do a good job of scaring these away so they don't need to be killed)?
We do many things that are not essential that damage other life forms. When I live in a society prepared to give up eating battery produced eggs (which I won't use) and paying more for food produced in an animal and environmentally friendly way and generally sacrificing their pleasures for the sake of the animal world, then I will consider their views on whether it is right for a race of hunter gatherers to give up hunting.
things are hotting up but as its been said this is a public board and kids read this stuff i know i have been as bad but there wont be anymore from me so lets all do the same. as for charles why be the big man behind a comp lets meet at a gamefair or anywhere else for that matter and we'll sort it out that way?
Got another Rabbit last night-Yes not the biggest, but great flight from high branch at least 100 mts along hedge line. I feel the added number of kills mainly rabbit has been a great experience for the bird, building confidence and having the expectation of getting a kill if we keep together as a team. The cover is getting thicker by the day, and the pollen count higher! (hay feaver) so I think I will put him down to moult at the end of the month and see how things go. Its hard to stop when your having such a good time.
Cheers Mark
p.s point the finger somewhere else Gaz, maybe closer to home?
Took a Magpie in a tree on the weekend, and a Rabbit this evening, decided the time is right for him now to have a rest and Moult out. I'm very intrested to see for myself how the late moult will effect feather growth, but its only the deck feathers which are shot, and will be the first to drop anyway. for me it has been a good exercise so far but only time will tell.
Interesting..... 11 days and the first feather droped over night. quite a change in his mood overnight as well. have discovered a good little arrangement of running a line between two Bow perches in garden say 8m apart and tieing a leach to a swivel which can run along line. this way the bird can choose Sun/Shade etc, and move around easily, and looks good & stimulating for him.
I have seen marks bird land on mixci rabbits and some other coloured rabbit, black , white and other mixes, we don't get those coloured rabbits around here. Then we watched a flim about hawking magpies and had some cheese. That night he had a dream about hawking magpies with his Road island Red. Dreams seem so true some times. Egg bound birds are very good for the moult he tells me.
Keep that Air fifle clean mark and try and use none leaded pellets, for ECO sake, We dont want to give Plunkers a bad name, sorry plonker.

Hi Mark, dont wont to put you off the line technique, but Harris hawks are suseptable to breaking their legs using this method, usually the Tibiotarsus bone(the second bone up the leg).
Harris Hawks should be tied to their bow perch with a only a short leash to prevent this happening.
Running a line between two bow perches is great for Red-Tailed hawks though.
good bit of advice there joe however you can still use a running line on a harris by using som bungee cord from bbq as a second ring for tying to this way it take the strain in stead of the bar or the ring causing no damage to the birds leg also if it comes untied there is allways the first ring or the bar as back up all.
all the best
rob
ps use this on all my birds never had a single leg injury
ps joe you know you said you lost your harris did you get it back?
