Hi all just like to say ive took the big jump and got into me birds of prey ,i got an african spotted owl last night i was as nervous as hell but everything went to plan i had the owl at the side of me bed and it woke me up screaming for food at 5am its worse then me kids ,lol it looks like a gremlin ugly swine ,its only 2 weeks old its feding from the hand so thats a start ,ill keep you posted with the progress ?
No i dont think im going to hunt with the owl m8 ,ive got it to get use to the husbandary of keeping birds of prey im taking one step at a time in a year ill get me harris then and hunt with him ,im still going to train the owl to come to the fist and do work with the dummy bunny ,lol
If i did hunt with him id go for robins and that kind of prey ,lol only joking what bird have you got anyway and thanks for asking m8
I have a male Harris, two years old, he has caught Squirrels,(not recomended! they bite) Rabbits, Pidgeons, Magpies, Crows, Pheasents, plus voles!, I am really only intrested in catching Rabbits, yesterday i only took him out to give him a bit of food and he caught a magpie, one hell of a row, from the magpies and crows in the area. Its funny how he can sit in a tree with other birds around him, then all of a suden when he knows he has a hight advantage he just nails anything that moves!, good luck with your new baby, ive been thinking of getting another bird probably a RedTail Hawk, but still have a lot of thinking to do! and talking the wife round!!
